The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has named the redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion a Top Safety Pick.
IIHS crash test dummy tests for the driver and rear seat passenger positions “indicate low risk of any significant injuries” in the moderate overlap and side impact tests. The car’s side airbags deployed front and back during both tests and dummy movement was “well controlled.”
“The maximum force sustained by the roof before 5 inches of crush is compared to the vehicle’s weight to find the strength-to-weight ratio,” says IIHS on their website.
IIHS also gave the Fusion the top rating of “good” for rollover crashes and rear crash tests.
The new Fusion hit the showroom last month, and this is an absolutely gorgeous vehicle inside and out.
It takes European style design cues to the American dealership. With its hexagonal grille and thin swooping headlights, Ford is calling the the 2013 Fusion “the new face of Ford.” We think this is the face you want in your garage.
The 2013 Fusion is also an ec0-friendly model, as Ford used recyclable materials to build the seats and other parts of the interior.
