2013 Nissan Altima is awarded Top Safety Pick Plus from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The Top Safety Pick Plus recognizes passenger vehicles for excellent performance in five passenger safety tests. The criteria includes tests for front, side, rollover and rear crash tests, as well as the newly added small overlap frontal test.

Bob Yakushi, Nissan’s director of product safety, says:

“The2013 Altima is truly Nissan’s most innovative Altima ever, and the ‘Top Safety Pick Plus’ designation by IIHS reflects the engineering and design that have gone into this car to make it stand out in the class.”

The 2013 Nissan Altima comes with many standard safety features, including the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags, roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags, Vehicle Dynamic Control, 3-point ALR/ELR seat belt system, LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), zone body construction with front and rear crumple zones and Tire Pressure Monitoring System with Easy Fill Tire Alert, which sounds the car horn to notify a person filling a tire with air when the recommended tire pressure has been reached.

Not only is the 2013 Nissan Altima a beautifully designed car it is featured on the  2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year Award short list.
