Insure.com has compiled a list of the 20 least expensive 2013 cars to insure. And there is good news! Models from Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, and Ford have all made the list.
Many of the vehicles on this list are SUVs or Crossovers. Of this, Russ Rader, spokesperson for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, says:
āThese are vehicles used largely by families. They’re going to the mall, taking kids to school and driving to sports practices on the weekends. They’re not getting into a lot of crashes.ā
A lack of accidents and low repair costs are making for lower insurance costs.
Standouts from the list are:
- The 4WD Kia Sorento LX ranked number 20 on the list with an average annual premium of $1,237
- The Honda Fit came in at the 19th spot with an average annual premium of $1,235.
- The Nissan Pathfinder S is at spot 17 with an average annual premium of $1,224.
- The 2WD Kia Sorento LX is ranked 16th, with an average annual premium of $1,222
- The Honda Odyssey EX-L is 14th on the list with an average annual premium of $1,217
- TheĀ Ford Transit Connect XLT Premium is 12th with an average annual premium of $1,210.
- TheĀ Hyundai Tucson GL is at the 10th spot with an average annual premium of $1,204.
- TheĀ Ford ExplorerĀ is 9th with an average annual premium of $1,197.
- TheĀ Hyundai Tucson GLS is ranked 8th with an average annual premium of $1,189.
- TheĀ Subaru Outback 3.6R is 7th with an average annual premium of $1,180.
- TheĀ Kia Sportage comes in at the 4th spot with an average annual premium of $1,157.
- TheĀ Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium holds the 3rd position with an average annual premium of $1,150.
- The top spot goes to theĀ Ford Edge SE with an average annual premium of $1,128.
