The 2013 Honda Pilot adds a backup camera standard on all models, along with room for 8.

The 2013 Honda Pilot is one of the best choices for a larger families. It’s one of the few vehicles that offers comfortable seating for up to 8 people, and with a backup camera now standard across the lineup, the Pilot is one of the most practical choices for those seeking a large SUV.

We’ve always found the Pilot to be one of the most underrated vehicles in Honda’s lineup. There isn’t a wasted millimeter of space in the Pilot. There’s room for 8 people to sit inside, and even taller passengers will fit comfortably in the back of a Pilot. Sometimes we look at 3-row models and think “who would fit in that third row,” but we don’t think that’s the case in the 2013 Honda Pilot.

While the Pilot is relatively the same as previous models, a backup camera is now standard on all 2013 Honda Pilot models. This is a big step forward, because we know it can be hard to fit a larger SUV into a tight space. Those problems are now a thing of the past.

An Option For Everyone

The 2013 Honda Pilot has eight available levels, so you can customize your Pilot with as many features as you would or wouldn’t want. It starts with a 2WD LX model, and goes all the way up to a 4WD Touring Option that has all the options you can fit into the modern vehicle.

But if you do want features, the 2013 Pilot has it all. Along with the standard backup camera, you can get your Pilot with heated leather seats, sunroof, Navigation, Satellite Radio, Bluetooth and 18 inch alloy wheels.

One of the best available features is the Rear Entertainment System. A TV folds down for the second and third row passengers, and if you have backseat passengers, they can watch their favorite movie while you enjoy a silent drive up front. Also nice is the AV hookups that allow you to hook up a game system.

If you have the heated leather seats and rear entertainment system, we think you’ll start watching movies inside the Pilot instead of heading to the theater.

Power

Every Honda Pilot is powered by a 250-hp, 3.5 liter, aluminum-alloy, SOHC, 24-valve i-VTEC® engine featuring the latest version of Honda’s advanced Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) system. Fully independent 4-Wheel Suspension makes controlling your Pilot easy.

The Pilot also features avaiable 5-speed Automatic Transmission with Grade Logic Control. Grade Logic Control improves efficiency under a wide variety of driving conditions, such as uphill/downhill and city-traffic driving. It “knows” when the Pilot is on a hill and automatically holds the engine in a lower gear for better climbing power and increased engine braking when going downhill.

The Pilot also comes with available Hill Start Assist, which prevents the Pilot from rolling forward or backward when stopped on a steep grade. Get the Pilot in four wheel drive or two wheel drive.

Awards

The Pilot was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Cars.com named the Pilot “Family Car of the Year.”
