Review: 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

The 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is designed for the sports car enthusiast who also wants to save money. Powered by a turbocharged engine, designed with the World rally Championship in Mind, and coming at a competitive price in the performance category, there’s a reason why the Lancer Evolution has always been a fan favorite.

Mitsubishi didn’t make a lot of changes from 2012 to 2013, but that isn’t a bad thing with a car like this one.

Performance

The Lancer Evolution is powered by a 291-hp turbochraged MIVEC engine. Mitsubishi says it also features a front-mounted intercooler and 300 lb-ft torque available from under 3,000 to 4,000 rpm.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is “bred to dominate the brutal World Rally Championship,” according to Mitsubishi. One of the performance highlights is Super All Wheel Control. Combining Mitsubishi’s All Wheel Control and Active Yaw Control, S-AWC directs engine torque to the outside or inside rear wheels — depending on available traction. In other words, the wheels with most grip on the road receive the msot power.

The Evo also features Active Driver Differential with 3 driver-selectable models — tarmac, gravel or snow. This allows the S-AWC system to adapt to various driving surfaces.

The racing heritage continues with the GSR trim 5-speed manul or Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission in the MR trim. Choose from normal, sport or S-Sport mode to select automated shift points that match your driving style,.

Safety

Then you’re probably asking about safety. The Evo features a 7 airbag safety system and Sport ABS.

Features

A lot of great features are available, including 710-Watt Rockford Fosgate Audio System, Navigation, Bluetooth, Recaro Sport Front Seats, and leather wrapped shift and steering wheel.

All new Lancer Evolution models come with a 5-year, 60,000 mile limited powertrain warranty.
