The all-new 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick, making it the best of the best for car safety.
The Outlander, introduced early this year, accomplished the top score of good in all four IIHS tests.
In moderate overlap front tests, the Outlander scored the top pick of “good”
In small overlap front tests, the Outlander scores the top pick of “good”
In side impact tests, the Outlander scores the top pick of “good”

The Outlander is one of only 2 small SUVs to earn a good rating in the small overlap front tests. Earlier this month, the Toyota Rav4 made headlines for failing its small overlap front tests.
According to its website, the Outlander improved rollover protection to earn a good rating for roof strength.
“The 2014 model’s roof withstood a force equal to nearly 5 times the SUV’s weight,” IIHS said. “The previous generation Outlander earned an acceptable rating for roof strength.”
