2014 Ford Fiesta with EcoBoost hits 45 MPG

 

The 1.0-liter 2014 Ford Fiesta with an EcoBoost three cylinder hit 45 MPG highway in the government’s official fuel economy test.

If these EPA Estimates are accurate, this will be the most efficient vehicle in its class. According to fueleconomy.gov, the all new Fiesta engine reached 45 highway MPG. According to the EPA, this Fiesta also gets a combined 37 MPG, 32 MPG in the city. Compare that to the smart fortwo, which only gets an EPA estimated 38 on the highway, and the Chevy Spark, which only get an EPA estimate 39 MPG on the highway.

The 2015 Ford Mustang will be the 50th anniversary of the world famous pony. While it has been kept quiet what the car will look like in 2015, Car and Driver might have the inside scoop. The Mustang  image has leaked onto the Dec. 2013 edition of the car and driver magazine. Car and Driver has even more pictures online.

According to Car and Driver’s images, the new Ford Mustang will take some style cues of the Ford Fusion, with the thin headlines and the front grille. “flared mustang nostrils that hint at the power lurking beneath,” observes Car and Driver.

Accord to Car and Driver’s interior spy shots, the interior takes cues from the entire 50-year history of the Ford Mustang. Car and Driver says the next generation Ford MyTouch interface will debut with the new 2015 Ford Mustang.

David Waikem Nominated for Time Dealer of the Year

David Waikem was nominated for Time’s Dealer of the Year Award

Waikem Co-Owner David Waikem is nominated for Time Magazine’s 2014 Dealer of the Year award. Announced Thursday by Time Magazine and Ally Financial, Dave is one of 57 dealers nominated from across the country. Winner will be announced at the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Exposition in New Orleans, Louisiana on Jan. 25, 2014.

“The dealers nominated for this award are community heroes, as well as economic and civic leaders, who have time and again shown their dedication to making a difference,” said Tim Russi, president of Auto Finance for Ally Financial. “Ally is pleased to once again be supporting these dealers in their efforts to create vibrant, thriving communities.”

Dave was nominated for this year’s award by Lou Vitantonio, president of the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association. Dave co-owners the Waikem Auto Family with Brothers Doug and Chip Waikem. His son Craig Waikem serves as Internet Manager for the dealership, and his nephews Deuce and Chris Waikem serve in upper management at the family business.

Consumer Reports says the Ford F Series are among the Most American Vehicles on a market.

But the first question is: What Makes A Car the “Most American?” Well Consumer Reports used a program called the “Kogod Made in America Auto Index.” It was created by Frank DuBois, a global supply chain management expert and professor at American University. The list is based on data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, plus the location of the headquarters, design, research and development and where the profits are going.

Ford Developing a Self-Parking Car

The Ford Motor Co. today unveiled it’s first developments in a self-parking car.

At a conference in Belgium, Ford introduced it’s Fully Assisted Parking Aid: a car that can find an open parking space and park itself without a driver behind the wheel. Ford has not announced plans to include this all-new technology in specifically in any vehicle, and cautioned that technology is still years away from seeing the marketplace. But, this is exciting news for those waiting to finally see the self driving autonomous vehicle.

Ford already has Active Park Assist, which helps a driver parallel park. This system is the next step.

Stark County is No. 1 for Deer Collisions

Stark County had the most deer-vehicle collisions in Ohio  last year. Neighboring Summit and Tuscarawas Counties were in the state’s Top 1o.

With 559 collisions total, Stark had 24 more deer-vehicle collisions than any other vehicle. Study comes from the Ohio Insurance Institute, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Department of Public Safety and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

State Farm and Ohio.com say the typical deer-vehicle accident costs around $3,414.

Ford acquired a software company that should make SYNC and Ford AppLink the industry standard for smartphone to vehicle communication

The Ford Motor Co. has acquired a Michigan software company that will help make their SYNC system the industry standard for smartphone to vehicle communication.

The startup application developer Livio was acquired by the Ford Motor Company last week. Ford said the purchase of Livio was aimed to accelerate vehicle communication innovation. Ford said this acquisition will make the SYNC the most innovative and the safest smartphone to vehicle communication platform on the road today.

“With the additional expertise Livio provides us, Ford intends to continue to lead the next generation of in-car connectivity with technology advancements that give consumers more options to access their devices on the go,” said Paul Mascarenas, chief technical officer and vice president, Ford Research and Innovation.
