We held a special picnic at the Ford store Saturday, grilling hot dogs, selling raffle baskets and teaching customers and associates the importance of cancer research and raising awareness.
Thanks to the Drive 4 UR Community program from the Ford Motor Co., we were able to donate $20 to the Massillon Relay for Life for Cancer Research. After 80 successful test drives, the Massillon Relay for Life will receive $1,600. We also accepted donations for lunch and raised money from three raffle baskets, a special thank you to WHBC for their donation.
“Cancer research is something that hits home to everyone, that’s why we wanted to partner with Massillon Relay for Life,” said Jeff Russ, marketing manager with the Waikem Auto Family. “I want to thank everyone who came out today and all the employees of the Ford store for making this such a wonderful day.”
Massillon Relay for Life is part of the American Cancer Society, this group is a year-long fundraiser raising money for cancer research. Every dollar raised is one step closer to finding a cure.
We also invite you to join the Massillon Relay for Life for its annual celebration starting at 6 p.m. Friday, June 20 at Massillon High School. There, the group will celebrate cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our cancer risk and raise money to help American Cancer Society fight the disease.
