The Mitsubishi Mirage has been named the most affordable car of the year, according to cars.com. Affordable doesn’t just mean “lowest sticker price” in this case, as their researchers looked at five-year fuel prices and new MSRP to create this formula. Every car on the market was studied, with the only requirement being automatic transmission, USB, Bluetooth capabilities, tilt steering wheel and power locks and windows.
At a total cost of only $22,115, the Mirage came in first place, $1,800 less than the second-place vehicle, and more than $3,700 less than the list average.
This is no surprise to anyone who has ever taken a look at this nearly-new model. The Mirage DE with Bluetooth has a starting MSRP of $15,115 — but you can get a more stripped down base model for even less. Cars.com’s yearly gas price average of $7,000 was also the lowest on the market, and many Mirage models eclipse the 40-MPG mark.
“The Mitsubishi Mirage is a small car that has a low starting price, decent features and incredible fuel economy, which put it firmly at the top of this list by nearly $2,000. That is a considerable margin compared to Most Affordable lists we’ve done, with some being decided by less than $100,” cars.com says.
The Mirage debuted in 2014 as the perfect car for the modern urban driver. With high fuel economy, great features and fun colors to match your lifestyle, you truly cannot go wrong with this model. Plus it has a low MSRP and great fuel economy. Learn more about the original model.
