This is the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, and everything is different inside and out. The all-new design is absolutely gorgeous. The fastback style design returns with the gorgeous sculpted hood and short rear deck. New highlights include a wide stance with a lower roof height and a wide open trapezoid grille with thin, swooping headlights.

UNDER THE HOOD

The Mustang’s strengths comes from is power under the hood. This is the first vehicle to offer four, six and eight cylinder engine that all produce at least 300 horsepower.  Choose between the 2.3L EcoBoost 1-4; 3.7L V6 or the 5.0L V8 that is ready for Daytona.

This all-new V8 puts out 435 horsepower and 400- lb. ft of torque. And it roars like the old days, making it the dream choice for the true Mustang enthusiast. Get the V8 on the Mustang GT trim.

The EcoBoost is the perfect blend of power and economy, producing 310 horsepower with 320 lb.-ft. of torque.  Fuel economy estimates from the EPA show this model reaching up to 32 MPG on the highway with automatic transmission.

“This EcoBoost engine delivers where a Mustang driver expects it to, with a broad, flat torque curve that pours out when you stand on it for easy passing or hustling down a twisty road,” said Dave Pericak, Ford Mustang chief engineer, in a release from the Ford Motor Co.

DESIGNED FOR PERFORMANCE

Performance can be improved by increasing the output of the powerplant or reducing the amount of work it has to do. The sleeker shape helps it slip through the air with less effort.

Each of Mustang’s three available engines gets a unique grille that allows in only as much air as that specific powerplant needs. Active grille shutters will help make the Mustang powered by the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost®engine even more fuel efficient by further reducing drag at higher speeds when extra cooling capacity is not needed. The shutters can completely close off the grille, sending air over and around the car instead of through the engine compartment.

CARVE THE CURVES

We were lucky enough to take our all-new model out for a short drive, and our first impression was the smooth handling on the curves. The Mustang features all-new front and rear suspension systems for the first time. In the front  the perimeter subframe helps to stiffen the structure and reduce mass, providing a better foundation for more predictable wheel control for better handling, steering and ride.

The all-new integral-link independent rear suspension system was fully modified for high-performance application. You’ll notice less body roll and improved braking system that truly makes this one of the best driving experiences you will ever had.

SMARTER THAN EVER

The new-Mustang is the most innovative Pony Car of all-time, with all the advanced technology of the modern vehicle. The all-new track apps will make the pros jealous, because it will record lap times and brake performance. Electronic Line-Lock keeps the front brakes locked while the Mustang is in gear to enable the warming of the rear tires. Launch control integrates brakes, traction control and powertrain control to help ensure smooth consistent starts.

A rearview camera is standard, and for even more safety, opt for the available adaptive cruise control and rain sensing wipers. A touch screen center console controls your Bluetooth, along with great options such as navigation, heated and cooled leather seats, and media. With the Shaker Pro Audio Package, you’ll get HD Radio, with breaking news, weather alerts, sports and traffic alerts displayed on the center console.

50 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, a year-long celebration of America’s most iconic muscle car. Mustang’s impact goes well beyond the 9 million-plus cars sold in its 50 years of continuous production. It has made thousands of appearances in film, television, music and video games, and is the world’s most-liked vehicle on Facebook. For the first time ever, Ford will bring Mustang to customers in key parts of Europe and Asia.

Mustang will continue to be built in the United States at Flat Rock Assembly Plant.

“From day one, we knew if we were going to build a new Mustang, we had to do it right,” said Pericak. “We built a new Mustang from the ground up that is quicker, better-looking, more refined and more efficient, without losing any of the raw appeal that people have associated with Mustang for half a century.”
