Average Fuel Economy Rises

We can all see it. The steady rise of each new model year’s mpg rising. With more stringent federal fuel economy standards to rising fuel prices, the auto manufacturer’s have responded positively.

A study from the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute  has determined the rise of fuel economy each year since they started keeping track in October 2007. The average for August 2013 was 24.9 mpg, almost five times the amount in October 2007.

2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Expected this Fall

The 2013 Honda Accord.

The Honda Accord already has an impressive lineup, including the four-cylinder and V6 powered Accord sedan, the Accord coupe, and the advanced Accord Plug-in. Honda will soon be adding the Accord Hybrid to the sophisticated yet sporty lineup.

The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is anticipated to achieve a class-leading 49 mpg in the city and 45 on the highway for a combined fuel economy of 47 mpg.

This Accord will be the first Hybrid assembled in Marysville, Ohio, and will go on sale nationwide in October 2013.

Hyundai CEO, John Krafcik, earns Auto Exec of the year award.

John Krafcik, CEO at Hyundai North America, has recently earned the Automotive Executive of the Year award.

Each year since 1964 the Automotive Executive of the Year “celebrates individuals who demonstrate great leadership and tireless dedication to the innovation and creative thinking needed to succeed in this industry.”

The award was given to the Hyundai CEO because he “reshaped the way Hyundai approaches the market with consumer focus, compelling design, and enduring value”, says Robert Djurovic, executive director of the Automotive Executive of the Year Award program.

Review: 2013 Honda CR-V

The 2013 Honda CR-V follows the popular redesign of 2012. As one of the most fuel efficient and award winning vehicles currently on the road today, we always feel you cannot wrong when you choose this Honda Crossover.

Ford Announces 1.5-Liter Ecoboost for 2014 Fusion

Ford‘s hugely successful lineup of Ecoboost engines has recently expanded.

Ford announced last week the 2014 Ford Fusion will come equipped with a 1.5-liter Ecoboost engine. Ecoboost technology aids in improving fuel efficiency by 20% and emissions of up to 15%.

The 2013 Ford Fusion is one of 6 Ford’s named ‘Best Car for the Money’.

 

According to Ford‘s press release, the 1.5-liter engine benefits from signature EcoBoost turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing, and has been designed to be even more fuel efficient and offer high levels of refinement, quietness and performance.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Wins Best New Crossover Award

The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe named best new crossover

During the press preview day at the 2013 Atlanta International Auto Show, the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAAMA) named the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe the best new crossover.

GAAMA President, Davis Adams said:

“For this year’s Best Crossover Award, GAAMA chose the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe for its handsome new design, luxurious interior, impressive technologies, accessible pricing and the flexibility for 5- and 7- passenger configurations.”

The award is determined by a panel of judges consisting of automotive journalists from around the southern United States. The judges look at all-new vehicles that stand out in terms of value, performance, innovation, and features.

The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe can have a seven-passenger capability and a 290 horsepower 3.3 liter V6. Add to that the beautifully designed exterior, and you have a vehicle that is truly deserving of awards.

Honda Wins Three Awards From Kelley Blue Book

Kelley Blue Book has recognized Honda in their sixth annual 2013 Brand Image Awards.

Honda has been named the Most Trusted Brand, Best Value Brand, and Best Overall Brand. Kelly Blue Book bases their decisions on consumer automotive perception data from Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence’s Brand Watch study. Brand Watch taps into more than 12,000 new-vehicle shoppers annually on KBB.com.

Honda was named the ‘Best Overall Non-Luxury Brand’ by securing the highest average score across ratings of all non-luxury models.

Fusions Receive Best Cars for Families Award

The 2013 Ford Fusion is one of 6 Ford’s named ‘Best Car for the Money’.

Each year U.S. News & World Report awards new models, within 19 categories, for being the best for families.

This year Ford has their models earning top spots. The Ford Fusion won for best midsize car and the Fusion Hybrid won for best hybrid car.  This would be the second year in a row for the Fusion Hybrid and third in a row for the Fusion.

U.S. News & World Report determines the winning vehicles based on the best combination of quality, features, and space for families.

The Fusion and Fusion Hybrid are  no strangers to awards and recognition. MSN Autos included the Hybrid in their list of  cars that reach at least a combined 35 MPG (the Hybrid gets 47 mpg). And the Ford Fusion was named the  family vehicle of the year by the Midwest Automotive Media Association.

Nissan Performs Well in J.D. Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction Index Study

Thanks to the redesigned 2013 Nissan Altima, Nissan broke all time sales records in 2012.

Nissan has steadily climbed J.D. Power and Associates CSI Study each year. This year they are sixth among 19 nameplates in the mass market brands segment.

The J.D. Power and Associates CSI study ranks customer satisfaction with dealer service departments during the first three years of ownership. The 2013 U.S. CSI StudySM surveyed owners and lessees of 2008 to 2012 model-year vehicles. Nissan improved significantly in all five CSI study factors – service advisor, vehicle pick-up, service facility, service quality and service initiation.

For the 2013 study Nissan has improved by 23 points and earned 797 out of a possible 1,000 points, placing them sixth. Over the past two years, Nissan has earned 66 points and 14 places in the mass market brands segment ranking.
