The 2015 Ford F-150 is nominated for cars.com Best Pickup Truck award.

The website has chosen this vehicle for its big redesign, new technology and use of high-strength aluminum. It will be competing against five other vehicles and the winner will be announced at the North American International Auto Show in January, 2015.

Cars.com says, “the big news about this redesign is that it is the first mass-produced pickup to use high strength aluminum for all the body panels and bed construction.”

With the new material there is a significant change in overall weight of the vehicle but it also drives and sounds different. A reduction in weight has allowed Ford to create an EcoBoost engine that has better fuel economy while still keeping towing and payload standards.

Ford has spent the past year hyping this truck, which is set to debut in late 2014. We first saw it at the 2014 Cleveland Auto Show and immediately fell in love. The main highlight of the all-new Ford is its all-aluminum body. Military-grade aluminum helped reduce 700 pounds from this year’s model, meaning more towing, hauling and better fuel economy.
