Ford Moving Truck Production from Mexico to Ohio

Ford is shifting production of F-650 to F-750 trucks from Mexico to its Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, Ohio, according to the Detroit News.

Ford spokespeople did not comment on the Detroit News’ story, but the paper says the company is planning next Friday to announce more details of the shift to America. The paper says the switch is likely to take place late 2014 or early 2015.

The Avon Lake Plant currently makes E-Series Vans, but these vans will soon be replaced by the new Ford Transit. In 2011, Ford announced a plan to invest $128 million in Northeast Ohio to support production of F53 and F59 commercial stripped chassis. In Jan. 2014, UAW Workers and the Ford Motor Co. agreed to protect 1,4000 jobs at the plan.
