2013 Ford Fusion and Fusion Hybrid Earn Top Safety

Ford Fusion

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2013 Ford Fusion and Ford Fusion Hybrid a five-star overall score in its New Car Assessment Program.

This is in addition to the “Top Safety Pick+” from the International Institute for Highway Safety.

Steve Kenner, Global Director of the Ford Automotive Safety Office, says:

“The Fusion and Fusion Hybrid exemplify the new face of Ford vehicles and demonstrate Ford’s commitment to safety in all its vehicles across the globe.”

The new Fusion features the Personal Safety System with new belt technologies and frontal impact airbags.

The Restraint Control Module (RCM) translates information collected by the front crash sensors, front outboard safety belt buckle switches, driver-seat track position and passenger seat weight sensor. Using this information, the RCM activates the safety belt pretensioners and determines how the dual-stage front airbags will deploy. This tailored airbag deployment is based upon system inputs received about the size, seat track position and safety belt usage of the front seat occupants.

Ford does everything they can to keep you safe by having new technology and safety features in their cars.

The 2013 Ford Fusion was named a finalist for the North American Car of the Year Award.

Two Ford models are on the list for North American Car and Truck/Utility Vehicle of the Year. If they can win over the voters, the Ford Fusion and Ford C-Max may bring home the hardware. Ford was the only manufacturer with two vehicles to be named finalists.

The 2013 Ford Fusion is a finalist for the 2013 North American Car of the Year. The gorgeous redesign is one of 3 cars voters will consider. The winner will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

It’s easy to see why the voters considered the 2013 Ford Fusion for this prestigious award. As redesigns go, none compares to the Ford Fusion. The Fusion takes cues from European sports cars with a hexagon styled grille, thin swooping headlights and side line models.

Photo of North American Car of the Year Award

The 2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year Award short list has been released.  These lists of cars and trucks have been edited down from a long list of 45 vehicles that we detailed back in August.

Ford has the most vehicles on this year’s short list, with 3 combined. Nissan’s most innovated year ever is off to a great start, as they have two vehicles in the running.

Soon enough the jurors will edit this list down further to three finalists that will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2013.
