The 2015 Ford Edge, seen here at the Cleveland Auto Show, is among the least expensive vehicles to insure.
Ford Edge is one of the least expensive cars to insure. That’s according to Insure.com, who released its annual list this month. Taking the average rates of the six largest carriers — Allstate, Farmers, Geico, Nationwide, Progressive and State Farm, the Edge was the eighth cheapest car to insure among all vehicles.
Specifically, Insure.com used the Ford Edge SE 2WD model, which cost on average $1,176 to insure. To go even more specific, the
Canton-Akron-Cleveland Area was the second least expensive area in the country to insure a vehicle, 31 percent less than the national average.
Us Ohio Drivers are in good luck — the Buckeye State was voted second least expensive state to own a vehicle.
Bankrate.com reviewed the bills in each state for repairs, insurance and gasoline per year. Totaling in at just $1,973, Ohio was just $31 more than first place Iowa.
According to Bankrate, Ohio drivers pay on average $328 in repairs, $698 in Insurance and $947 in gasoline.
The 2013 Ford Edge SE is the least expensive 2013 Model to Insure.
Insure.com has compiled a list of the 20 least expensive 2013 cars to insure. And there is good news! Models from
Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, and Ford have all made the list.
Many of the vehicles on this list are SUVs or Crossovers. Of this, Russ Rader, spokesperson for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, says:
“These are vehicles used largely by families. They’re going to the mall, taking kids to school and driving to sports practices on the weekends. They’re not getting into a lot of crashes.”
A lack of accidents and low repair costs are making for lower insurance costs.
