The Leaf was awarded a Top Rating of Good in front, side, rollover and rear crash tests. The Leaf joins the Nissan Altima on the 2013 IHHS Top Safety Pick Ratings.
“Driver and passenger safety are top priorities for Nissan and the ‘Top Safety Pick’ designation by IIHS reflects the design and innovation that have gone into this car to make it a practical, no-compromise electric vehicle,” said Erik Gottfried, Nissan’s director of electric vehicle sales and marketing. “The new, U.S.-assembled 2013 Nissan LEAF provides customers with a remarkable level of value, comfort and security at prices competitive with gas-powered cars in a fun-to-drive package.”
The Outlander Sport has a huge emphasis on safety. It has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick and carries a 4-star crash test rating. There are a number of great safety features built in to the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport that help it achieve this status.
First off, let’s talk about All Wheel Control. The All Wheel Control system engages an onboard computer that monitors your Outlander Sport’s throttle, vehicle speed and the road conditions. The Outlander Sport can then intelligently help you determine which drive train you should be using — two wheel drive or four wheel drive. You can easily override this with a switch that easy helps you change from two or four wheel drive yourself.
“If you want a compact car with a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, the 2013 Honda Civic is the only choice,” said Art St. Cyr, vice president of product planning and logistics at American Honda. “We believe this is a distinct competitive advantage, especially as more and more consumers place a premium on crash rating performance.”
Top Safety Pick Plus is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s newest top ranking, which separates out the best of best for safety. IIHS scores the 2013 Honda Civic Good in the moderate overlap front test results, Good for the small overlap front test, good for side impact test results, and good for roof strength test. To achieve Top Safety Pick Plus status, a vehicle must receive a score of good in at lease 4 of 5 tests and no less than acceptable in the fifth test. Less than 20 vehicles across the United State have been designated as a Top Safety Pick Plus.
The 2013 Honda Ridgeline is a safe and sportier midsized pickup, so if you are looking to an alternative from the Dodge Ram or Chevy Silverado, the Ridgeline is a great truck to consider.
Not all truck drivers are looking to haul cattle, spaceships, or a barn full of wood, and that’s where we think the Honda Ridgeline fits in. As someone who has always driven a Honda Civic or a Honda Accord, a truck can be a difficult choice, especially for urban settings with require a truck. The Ridgeline though is modeled as the sporty truck, especially the Ridgeline’s Sport model, with features 18-inch alloy wheels, sporty styled headlights, privacy glass and a leather steering wheel.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2013 Ford Fusion and Ford Fusion Hybrid a five-star overall score in its New Car Assessment Program.
This is in addition to the “Top Safety Pick+” from the International Institute for Highway Safety.
Steve Kenner, Global Director of the Ford Automotive Safety Office, says:
“The Fusion and Fusion Hybrid exemplify the new face of Ford vehicles and demonstrate Ford’s commitment to safety in all its vehicles across the globe.”
The new Fusion features the Personal Safety System with new belt technologies and frontal impact airbags.
The Restraint Control Module (RCM) translates information collected by the front crash sensors, front outboard safety belt buckle switches, driver-seat track position and passenger seat weight sensor. Using this information, the RCM activates the safety belt pretensioners and determines how the dual-stage front airbags will deploy. This tailored airbag deployment is based upon system inputs received about the size, seat track position and safety belt usage of the front seat occupants.
Ford does everything they can to keep you safe by having new technology and safety features in their cars.
