Study Show Northeast Ohio has Lowest Used Car Prices

Northeast Ohio dealerships like the Waikem Auto Family in Massillon, Ohio, report the lowest prices of used cars in America, according to NADA.

The National Automobile Dealers Association and CarGurus.com say Northeast Ohio is the most affordable area to buy a new used car.

NADA and Cargurus.com recently released it study earlier this month, reporting that if you are looking for a used car in Northeast Ohio,  you are getting one at the lowest cost in the country. According to their study, used cars in Cleveland, Ohio, cost on average nearly 6 percent less than the national average. Used cars in Akron, Ohio, cost 4 percent less than the national average. Many other Great Lakes Cities, such as Buffalo, NY, Detroit, MI and Toledo, Ohio, also made the list of least expensive cities to buy a new car.

Doug Waikem Featured on Fox Business

Doug Waikem, Co-Owner of the Waikem Auto Family, was featured on Fox Business News Channel Friday, talking again about the innovative strategies of finding used cars in today’s market.

Waikem has become the expert on finding used cars in a nationwide used car shortage. Doug Waikem was in the Wall Street Journal last week, discussing what we are doing to find cars in this market. Following the Wall Street Journal and Yahoo articles, Doug was  guest on Fox Business Friday afternoon. 

 Speaking on Market News, Doug Waikem said available used car inventories are down 20 percent across the country. He said programs like Cash for Clunkers, along with slow new car sales at the end of the 2000s decade, have dealers scrambling to find used cars. As Doug told Fox Business: “We’re out there right now trying to buy anything and everything we can in the used car market.”

Waikem, the co-owner of the Waikem Auto Family, was featured in the Feb. 21 edition of the Wall Street Journal, in a feature story about dealers coming up with new ways to find used cars. In general, the Wall Street Journal says it is a great time to be a consumer, and customers get more than ever for their trade.

“I am spending more time now trying to buy cars than sell them,” Doug Waikem tells the Wall Street Journal.
