Mitsubishi working with Nissan-Renault on Joint Vehicles

Mitsubishi and Nissan announced Tuesday they are joining forces on two future vehicles, including a new mid-sized that will hit the American market.

The yet-unnamed vehicle will be released under the Mitsubishi brand name as a Renault based vehicle. A second electric vehicle development will be developed by this new joint venture.

Osamu Masuko, President of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation commented: “As a result of the development of collaborative projects with Nissan Motor up to now, Mitsubishi Motors is pleased to work again with Nissan and now Renault towards achieving further collaborations. The new opportunities could be described as evidence that the ongoing collaborative projects between Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan have brought positive results, and Mitsubishi Motors hopes that any new collaborative projects with the Renault-Nissan Alliance would bring us further merits”

Nissan Leaf to be the least expensive Electric Vehicle

The 2013 Nissan Leaf will have a dramatic price drop in 2013, according to Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced a massive price drop for the base model 2013 Nissan Leaf, making it the least expensive Electric Vehicle on the market.

The new starting price for the 2013 Nissan Leaf S starts at $28,800, a drop from the $35,000-plus price tag for the 2012 debut of this all electric model.

Ghosn, speaking at a forum during the North American International Auto Show, credited moving production from Japan to Tennessee as one of the major reasons for the price drop. The Leaf’s lithium-ion battery and electric motors are manufactured in the United States.
