The Ford Motor Co. has acquired a Michigan software company that will help make their SYNC system the industry standard for smartphone to vehicle communication.
The startup application developer Livio was acquired by the Ford Motor Company last week. Ford said the purchase of Livio was aimed to accelerate vehicle communication innovation. Ford said this acquisition will make the SYNC the most innovative and the safest smartphone to vehicle communication platform on the road today.
“With the additional expertise Livio provides us, Ford intends to continue to lead the next generation of in-car connectivity with technology advancements that give consumers more options to access their devices on the go,” said Paul Mascarenas, chief technical officer and vice president, Ford Research and Innovation.
