The redesigned 2013 Toyota RAV4 has received a rating of “poor’ in the IIHS small overlap test.
According to Automotive News, this test simulates what happens when a driver crashes the left front quarter of a vehicle into an object such as a tree, telephone pole or another car. Small overlap test examines how well a vehicle handles 40-mph frontal collisions.
According to IIHS and Automotive News, the RAV4’s driver’s space was “seriously compromised by intruding structure, and the dummy’s left foot was trapped by crushed and buckled sheet metal in the footwell.”
The institute also said the seat belt allowed “excessive forward movement of the dummy’s head and torso, contributing to the head hitting the instrument panel.”

In our test drive of the 2013 Ford C-Max, we were hooked. When you turn the key, the C-Max even sounds like an electric vehicle. There is no sound when get it started, but a message pops up saying “Ready to Drive.”
Put it in drive and it still doesn’t make a sound. The Ford C-Max is a smooth riding vehicle. The C-Max has a 2.0L I-4 Atkinson engine with an electric motor to generate a projected 188 total system horsepower, delivering the responsive power you want when you need it. The motor is teamed with an advanced high-voltage lithium-ion battery
A new electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT) built and engineered by Ford helps the C-Max get up to 47 MPG!
The regenerative braking system helps the MPG and once you get to use to it, you’ll love the C-Max.
Did we mention how quiet it was? We had the C-Max in park to take some pictures, and it was honestly so quiet that we forgot the engine was on.
The C-Max finally proves that a Hybrid model can be stylish. Ford took cues from its most popular models – Focus, Fusion and Escape, to style the C-Max with thin, swooping headlights and a trapezoid styled grille. You also get 17-inched machined alloy wheels, the same as some sports car.
The inside is also very stylish with available leather seats, and the touch screen dash similar to Ford’s other models.
